Sustainability
Timber Value is fully committed to the responsible management of its
forests under management, complying with the best practices in the sector.
Our programs integrate the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees
with the protection of wildlife, plants, soil, water, and air quality.
Our investment is based on positive selection criteria to ensure that
investments are ethical, sustainable, environmentally and socially sound.
When defining an investment project, we look primarily at opportunities
which:
• Are related to the sustainable production and processing of
timber
• Fulfill the international principles and guidelines for sustainable
forestry
• Offer superior risk-adjusted returns
• Provide a secure investment opportunity for participants
• Do not affect the economic and social balances of the local
communities
In order to meet the criteria contained in the international guidelines, Timber Value is required to operate according to specific sustainable, ethical, environmental and social standards. This is achieved by the adoption and committed implementation of appropriate ecological, technical and organizational guidelines and policies. These can be summarized as follows:
» Be committed with sustainable production from seedlings to
harvesting
» Be directly or indirectly involve in research, collaborating
with leading universities
» Preclude involvement in any activity that results in the depletion
of the rainforest or other natural hardwood forests
» Consider the impact of its investments in the indigenous wildlife,
flora and fauna.
» Be proactively responsible for the forestlands under permanent
protection, expanding their reach when possible.
» Be an equal opportunity employer, exceeding the legal minimum
requirements, related labor conditions, health care and professional
qualification.
» Provide a social infrastructure to allow the development of
social, cultural and athletic activities benefiting the communities
around the properties.
